Health check endpoint

GET /healthz
Returns {"status":"ok"} when ManyLayers is running and ready to serve requests. Use this for:
  • Load balancer health checks — configure your load balancer or reverse proxy to poll /healthz and remove the instance from rotation if it returns non-200.
  • Kubernetes readiness probe — add /healthz as your pod’s readiness probe so traffic isn’t sent to an instance until it’s fully initialized (database migrations complete, configuration loaded).
  • Uptime monitoring — wire this into your uptime monitoring tool (UptimeRobot, Checkly, Datadog Synthetics) to get alerted if ManyLayers goes down.
Example Kubernetes readiness probe:
readinessProbe:
  httpGet:
    path: /healthz
    port: 8180
  initialDelaySeconds: 10
  periodSeconds: 5

Background job status

ManyLayers runs background jobs for knowledge base indexing, and connector syncs. Monitor their status via the admin API:
EndpointDescription
GET /admin/jobsList all background jobs and their current status
These endpoints are useful when you’ve triggered a long-running operation (like re-embedding a knowledge base) and want to track its progress without polling the main health endpoint.

Next steps

  • Set up metrics for ongoing traffic monitoring
  • Review audit logs for request-level visibility
